Lumbar puncture, also known as a spinal tap, is a medical procedure in which a needle is inserted into the spinal canal, most commonly to collect cerebrospinal fluid for diagnostic testing. The main reason for a lumbar puncture is to help diagnose diseases of the central nervous system, including the brain and spine.
Dr. Bashir A. Soomro has over 29 years of experience in field of Neurology. Dr. Soomro serves as a Senior Consultant Neurologist and Professor of Neurology at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, North Nazimabad Campus, where he is also involved in teaching and training programs. He is the Secretary General of the Pakistan Society of Neurology and serves as Secretary to the Faculty of Neurology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).
